The Year She Thought She Was Losing
Once upon a time, a woman packed 3 suitcases and one big bicycle box, few dreams, and probably way too many expectations.
She moved to a new country thinking, “Okay. New chapter. New life. I’ve got this.”
She had a job.
She had a husband.
She had plans.
She had hope.
What she didn’t have was a clue that life had already opened a secret document called:
“Things She Definitely Did Not Ask For.”
Within one year, everything became complicated.
Her marriage became uncertain.
Her career, which she once felt proud of, suddenly made her question whether she was actually good at anything.
She was living far from the people she knew, trying to build a life in a place where sometimes even the weather felt personally offensive.
And there were nights when she sat alone thinking,
“Wow. So this is character development? Can I unsubscribe?”
She looked around and saw people moving forward.
Buying houses.
Having baby.
Achieving KPI ambition.
Getting promotions.
Meanwhile, she was just trying to keep her life together, drink enough water, and remember why she had walked into the kitchen.
She thought she was losing.
But what she didn’t realize was that surviving quietly is still moving forward.
Every morning she got up.
She went to work.
She exercised.
She tried to eat better.
She made plans.
She cried sometimes.
She laughed sometimes.
She made questionable decisions.
She made better decisions afterward.
And somehow, despite everything, she kept going.
One evening, she went for a walk and noticed a tree that had lost almost all of its leaves.
It looked terrible.
She thought, “Honestly, same.”
But then she noticed a tiny green bud at the end of one branch.
She stopped.
And she realized something.
The tree wasn’t failing.
It was simply going through a season where growth wasn’t obvious yet.
Maybe she was doing the same.
Maybe this year wasn’t about building the perfect life.
Maybe it was about becoming strong enough to build a different one.
She had lost some things she thought she’d keep forever.
But she had also discovered things she didn’t know she had:
COURAGE.
INDEPENDENCE.
RESILIENCE.
And an impressive ability to function while internally screaming and dying.
She finally stopped asking,
“Why is my life not going the way I planned?”
And started asking,
“What if this isn’t the ending?”
Maybe this wasn’t the year she lost everything.
Maybe it was the year she learned that she could lose almost everything she thought she needed—
and still find a way to stand up the next morning.
So she smiled at the little green bud.
She didn’t know what the next chapter would look like.
Her soul and life look so grey and colorless. Until one day wise man once said "You are the one that can take decision to add colors to your life".
It made her realized one thing.
She wasn’t finished.
Not even close.
And honestly?
After everything she’d survived, life better have a pretty damn good plot twist coming.
Because sometimes the hardest year of your life isn’t the year your life falls apart.
Sometimes it’s the year your old life falls away so you can finally grow into a new one.
And maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t losing.
She was becoming.
